We Provide custom and curated backcountry experiences throughout the Central Oregon Cascades for Hunters, Fishers, and Hikers.
Custom Pack Trips

These are fully guided trips that include all of the following:
Tents, meals, wood stove, cooking supplies, mules to ride if you are not using your own horse
Custom pack trips are to your location of choosing or CH Packstring can provide a unique location
All trips are taken within the Central Cascade Permit System
This includes the Three Sisters Wilderness, Mount Washington Wilderness and Mount Jefferson Wilderness areas
Pricing varies based on length of trip and amount of occupants

Trips range from 4 to 7 days and are limited to 6 people

Custom pack trips are available to book between May 15- November 15th
Drop Camp Trips

This is an unguided service that means that you get to hike deep into the backcountry but not carry any of your gear. Your gear, is packed in and dropped off at the campsite you have selected and then packed out once your trip is over. Allowing you the luxury of an easier hike to your favorite backcountry locations.

This service is great for hikers and hunters who want to take trips into the backcountry with more supplies than they can comfortably carry.
This service can also be used as a day long packing services for a variety of backcountry needs, check out our list of common services:
Packing out an elk or recent kill post hunt
Backpackers for single night excursions
Set of Kayaks packed in to a lake
Cold Beer runs (yes, we can put coolers on mules)

No more than 120 lbs of gear per person with an overall physical weight limit of 250 lbs
Back Country Equine Clinics

We hold several clinics each year that are designed to teach newcomers to back country riding everything from what gear to use and how to properly fit it to your horse or mule to teaching experienced riders new techniques and keeping their skills sharp. You can bring your own horse or you can use a mule of CH Packstring’s during our clinics.

Basic to advanced trail riding and how to train your horse or mule to do that

Weekend trailhead camping to the back country experience
